Care & Services
Support ShapedAround Everyday Life.
Care at the home follows each resident’s assessed needs — from a gentle reminder to full, hands-on assistance — within the rhythm of an ordinary household.
Care Approach
As Much Help
As Is Needed.
Care in an Adult Family Home is personal care: physical help, prompting, and supervision with the everyday tasks of living. At The Sun AFH 1 it begins with the individual — what a person can do on their own, where they need support, and how they prefer things done.
Staff encourage residents to stay as independent as possible. When the provider determines a service is appropriate for a resident, the home may provide the support described below.

Nurse Delegation
When nursing tasks are needed
When the provider deems it appropriate, the home may contract with a registered nurse delegator so that trained staff can perform delegated tasks under Washington rules. The cost of delegation is the resident’s responsibility.
Home & Routine
The Shape
of an Ordinary Day.
- Activities
- Activities are offered with each resident’s preferences in mind — where possible, drawing on what a person has loved doing in the past. Each of us needs a sense of purpose, however big or small.
- Culture & language
- English is the primary language spoken in the home. Respect for each resident’s culture, beliefs and practices is part of everyday care, and meals accommodate cultural backgrounds.
- Independence
- Residents are encouraged to do what they can for themselves, with support close at hand.

Talk With
the Provider.
Families can reach the home directly by phone at 206-965-0740 or 425-835-0406, or by email at Thesunafh@gmail.com. Questions about a resident’s routine, needs or care are best discussed by phone.
Understanding Fit
An Honest
Conversation.
Every Adult Family Home publishes a Disclosure of Services with Washington DSHS. It describes the care a home is able to offer — and notes that a home may not be able to provide services beyond those disclosed, and may need to consider the needs of residents already living there.
That is why the first step is always a conversation. The provider can talk through a person’s needs and whether The Sun AFH 1 can meet them well.
